What does "under the age of 30" have to do with this story? Let's focus on the issue of whether or not it should be illegal to breastfeed a baby when you knowingly have alcohol in your system. I don't think it should be illegal. I have relatives who did it and their children ended up being just fine.

It was the "right wing" that made this country great. The founders of the United States were so "right wing" that they didn't even want to have a federal government in the first place. That was the spirit of freedom that built the greatness of the U.S.

So, should we force people, by power of law, to go to the doctor every 6 months just in case they've developed a condition that gives them a 90% chance of dying? What if the parents had never chosen to take their son to the doctor in the first place?

We're already there. People who can't afford medical care are given medical care for free all the time. That's why healthcare costs are at 15% of GDP and they are, as we speak, probably debating healthcare reform somewhere in the halls of congress.

Roslyn, I would agree with you were it not for the fundamental fact that parents should have the right to influence the beliefs of their child. This particular case was extreme in that the doctor claimed the child had a vastly greater chance of survival if given the treatment.

Everyone needs to relax. The "Swine Flu" has not shown itself to be that much more dangerous than most other flu viruses. Whether or not it started in Mexico (or somewhere else) also remains to be seen. It's possible that it's been circulating undetected for years. No one knows.
